Scholarship Open Call ICPS: Indigenous Children Support Initiative
Indigenous Greeting! FFIG is implementing a scholarship program to support two Indigenous girl students who have been facing significant challenges
The FIG team conducted an impactful child marriage awareness workshop at Sankhu Palubari Community School, engaging girls from grades 7 to 9 in critical discussions about the dangers of early marriage and the importance of education, personal rights, and informed choices for their futures. Through interactive sessions, group discussions, skits, and presentations, the girls visualized their dreams, shared their aspirations, and explored ways to become advocates for change in their communities. Child marriage remains a pressing issue in Indigenous communities in Nepal, where 29% of women aged 20–24 were married before 18. Despite being criminalized under Section 173 of the Muluki Penal Code 2074, it continues to violate human rights, particularly for Indigenous and marginalized girls in rural areas. This workshop aimed to empower the youth with knowledge, helping to break the cycle of child marriage and supporting a brighter, more equitable future.
